Data Stellare 4307.1: Mentre l'Enterprise sta puntando verso la base stellare 6 per un periodo di riposo, Spock avverte una strana sensazione. Poco dopo arriva la comunicazione che la Intrepid, una nave con equipaggio interamente vulcaniano, è stata distrutta. Inviato ad indagare, Kirk trova nello spazio una gigantesca creatura simile ad una cellula che è responsabile della distruzione del sistema Gamma 7A.
- La base stellare 6 viene chiamata «Base spaziale 6».
