Trama

Data Stellare 3715.3: Esplorando Gamma Trianguli VI, Kirk e i suoi uomini trovano un popolo pacifico governato da Vaal, un computer che mantiene questa gente in uno stato improduttivo. Vaal si rende conto ben presto che la presenza di Kirk potrebbe compromettere questo equilibrio e cerca quindi di liberarsene.

• La battuta riportata sotto di Kirk a Scotty fa riferimento alla possibilità di separare la nave in caso di emergenza, opzione che non è mai stata utilizzata per motivi di budget.

Blooper

• Verso la fine, quando l'Enterprise non riesce a liberarsi dal raggio traente, Scotty cade contro la poltrona del Capitano e una piastrella salta via dal pavimento.
