Trama

Data Stellare 3468.1: Orbitando attorno a Pollux IV, l'Enterprise viene bloccata da una gigantesca mano di energia. Apollo, ultimo sopravvissuto di una razza di alieni che venne sulla Terra secoli addietro, creando la mitologia greca, chiede una sola cosa all'equipaggio: l'adorazione. L'alternativa è la distruzione.

• In una delle prima versioni della storia, l'episodio si concludeva con una scena in cui McCoy scopriva che Palamas era incita di un figlio di Apollo.
• Il titolo deriva dalla poesia Adonais (47-48) scritta da Shelley come elegia per la morte di John Keats:
  «Who mourns for Adonais? oh come forth
