Trama

2154: Arik Soong e un gruppo di Umani geneticamente modificati cresciuti da lui si impadroniscono della Barzai per penetrare all'interno di Cold Station 12, con lo scopo di impadronirsi di altri embrioni di Umani geneticamente modificati.

In questo episodio...

• Vediamo per la prima volta un vascello denobulano.
• L'Enterprise tenta due volte di distruggere la Cold Station 12 per evitare il furto degli embrioni. Il primo tentativo di attivare la sequenza di autodistruzione a distanza fallisce; in seguito la nave bombarda la base con i siluri fotonici, ma poi interrompe l'attacco in quanto Soong e gli altri riescono a fuggire.
• Vediamo per la prima volta il Dottor Jeremy Lucas, citato in Dear Doctor, e veniamo anche a sapere che ricopre la mansione di medico capo sulla Cold Station 12.

• Nel teaser, dopo il riassunto degli eventi di Borderland, si vede una scena ambientata nel 2143.

• Quando Soong sale a bordo della Cold Station 12 attiva il protocollo 047 [T:16:54].
• Durante il trasferimento dei dati sui patogeni dal computer della stazione, sul monitor si legge la scritta PATHOGEN INVENTORY SEARCH-47; sui due bottoni in alto sul lato destro dello schermo si legge il numero 227 (2 + 2 = 4).
