Trama

2154: Mentre è in viaggio per parlare di fronte al consiglio degli Xindi, l'Enterprise incontra un'altra Enterprise del futuro che li avvisa che il wormhole che la nave terrestre vuole imboccare per ridurre la durata del viaggio li porterebbe 117 anni nel passato, vanificando, quindi, la loro missione.

In questo episodio...

• All'inizio c'è un breve riassunto dei fatti precedenti con scene di Harbinger e The Forgotten.
• Vediamo due Enterprise combattere tra di loro, si sono viste per la prima volta in Parallels.
• L'Enterprise viene modificata con misto di varie tecnologie aliene; grazie a queste modifiche la nave è in grado di raggiungere warp 5.6 per brevi periodi e di superare warp 6, ma con un 22% di probabilità di esplodere.

Note

• Questa storia ha dei punti in comune con quella di Children of Time.
• Ci sono due curiose assonanze di nomi con Babylon 5: Karyn Archer dice di essere per metà Ikaarana (gli Ikarrani vengono nominati in Infection) e Lorian ha un nome abbastanza simile a Lorien, l'ultimo dei First One.

Versione italiana

• In occasione della prima trasmissione su Jimmy, alcune guide televisive avevano riportato che il titolo italiano di questo episodio era E² (un tuffo nel futuro).
