Trama

18 Settembre 2152: L'Enterprise riceve a bordo tre alieni che avvertono l'equipaggio dell'approssimarsi di una tempesta neutronica. Essendo impossibilitati ad aggirarla, l'unico modo per salvare l'equipaggio è quello di rifugiarsi nella parte della nave più resistente alle radiazioni neutroniche: le condutture di manutenzione delle gondole a curvatura.

In questo episodio...

• Vediamo per la prima volta l'interno delle gondole di curvatura dell'Enterprise.
• Archer riceve sulla nave le telecronache delle partite di pallanuoto.
• Ci sono 83 persone a bordo dell'Enterprise.
• Si vedono Hoshi, Travis, Reed e Trip giocare a poker.
• L'Enterprise si trova a circa 100 anni luce dalla Terra.

Note

• Trip dice che l'equipaggio si riunisce per vedere un film ogni martedì sera. In seguito questa usanza si modificherà perchè sappiamo che in Hatchery la serata è il lunedì.
• I diari di bordo che consulta il Capitano takrit nell'ufficio di Archer si riferiscono agli eventi accaduti in Fallen Hero.

• Nell'etichetta in basso a sinistra del PADD che Archer utilizza per guardare la partita di pallanuoto, c'è un 47.

Blooper

• Quando Archer entra in cucina la prima volta, la nave viene scossa violentemente, tuttavia nessun contenitore sui tavoli e sulle mensole si muove di un millimetro.

YATI

• Pholx trasloca tutti gli animali dall'infermeria nella passerella con il resto dell'equipaggio. È strano che non abbia pensato di lasciarli dove sono, visto che poco prima aveva proposto proprio l'infermeria come luogo più sicuro dalle radiazioni letali della tempesta neutronica in cui rifugiare l'equipaggio che, però, per evidenti questioni di spazio non poteva starci tutto e proprio per questo motivo si è poi scelto di evacuare tutti nella passerella.

Versione italiana

• In occasione della prima trasmissione in Italia, questo episodio è stato trasmesso senza i titoli di coda ed è stato unito a Dawn. Tra i due episodi, oltre la pausa pubblicitaria è stato trasmesso un breve stacco che mostra l'Enterprise mentre entra in curvatura e il logo «Star Trek Enterprise» accompagnati da un jingle tratto dalla sigla di apertura.

Tucker: The entire crew is accounted for, including one quadruped.

Archer: All hands, this is the Captain. This catwalk is going to be our home for a while, a week, maybe more. You may not be comfortable, but you'll be alive. We're the best crewmen in the Fleet and the stunniest ship. I'll promise you: we'll get through this. [T:12:16]

Archer: How're you holding up?
Sato: Pretty well, Sir. A few days in this place should cure anyone of claustrophobia.

Sato: You're the Captain. Can you order the storm to calm down a little?
Archer: I'll see what I can do. [T:15:16]

Archer: You know, there's a bright side of all of this.
T'Pol: Really?
Archer: It's bringing the crew closer together. If you forget about the storm outside this is almost like we're all on a camping trip.
T'Pol: Perhaps we can sing a few songs later. [T:19.42]

Phlox: This wouldn't have anything to do with... gastro-intestinal distress?
Reed: Is it that obvious?
Phlox: Not at all. There's a notation on your medical file, something about, uh... an unfortunate incident during zero-G training?
Reed: Eah, the EV simulator at Lunaport, or, as Starfleet trainees call it, the Vomitorium.

Archer: I could see about... moving some of this to the aft section.
Phlox: Nonsense! I have... plenty of room! I find the close quarters rather comforting, reminds me of home.
Archer: I didn't realize space was at a premium on Denobula.
Phlox: Twelve billion people sharing one continent...

Archer: There's a lot more to this people than just their names. It would be good for you to fraternize, a little.
T'Pol: Is that an order?
Archer: Does that have to be?
T'Pol: I'm not skilled at fraternizing.
