16 giugno 2151: Gli Andoriani, che hanno stipulato un trattato di non belligeranza con Vulcano, sospettano di essere illegalmente monitorati da sensori nascosti in un avamposto sul confine fra Vulcano e Andoria. Una loro squadra viene inviata a perquisire un monastero vulcaniano sul pianeta, ma, nello stesso momento, l'Enterprise raggiunge il medesimo monastero con lo scopo di visitare il luogo in cui i Vulcaniani raggiungono il Kolinar. Scendono con una navetta, il Capitano Archer, T'Pol e Trip scoprono che un gruppo di Andoriani ha conquistato il monastero e vengono fatti prigionieri. Archer viene interrogato e picchiato, i monaci vulcaniani riescono a procurare a Trip una vecchia radio inutilizzata da decenni, nascosta in un passaggio segreto non scoperto dagli Andoriani. Trip riesce a rimetterla in funzione e la utilizza per comunicare con Reed sull'Enterprise. I due si accordano per un blitz coordinato per prendere di sorpresa i carcerieri, ma durante la battaglia due Andoriani fuggono nel passaggio segreto portandosi dietro Archer, T'Pol ed un monaco unitosi a loro e arrivano nel reliquiario sacro. In seguito ad uno scontro a fuoco, viene scoperta una stanza segreta in cui i Vulcaniani hanno installato un potentissimo sistema di sensori con cui gli Andoriani venivano costantemente spiati. Archer interrompe le ostilità consegnando agli Andoriani, con il consenso di T'Pol e la vana reazione momentanea del monaco, le prove del misfatto.

Tucker: We're supposed to be explorers, aren't we?
Archer: That's the general idea.
Tucker: Where's the exploration in going places people have already been? [T:02:19]

Tucker: Kohlinar?
T'Pol: The Vulcan purging of emotion. [T:03:22]

Phlox: I confess, I feel awkward, myself, on this ship... sometimes out of place. But what is that Vulcan motto? Uhm, 'Infinite Diversity...
T'Pol: ...in Infinite Combinations'.
Phlox: Hmm! And what is diversity but a celebration of differences! I wonder if you might remind me of our mission on this vessel. Please, indulge me.
T'Pol: Our mission is to make contact with those who humans consider new life and new civilizations.
Phlox: In other words, to seek infinite diversity. [T:04:51]

Archer: They answered a hail from the Enterprise. They threatened to kill us all if anyone attempts a rescue.
T'Pol: Mister Reed wouldn't be that reckless.
Archer: I didn't recruit my tactical officer to sit on his butt when he's threatened! The Andorians smashed our communicators, the longer we are out of contact, the more likely Malcolm will put together a landing party, warning or no warning.
Tucker: Knowing him, a heavily armed landing party. [T:20:21]

T'Pol: We don't believe in responding to violence with violence.
Archer: I admire your ethics, but, right now, a little violence might help! [T:20:58]

Archer: So, if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. No offense. [T:20:58]

Tucker: For people without emotion, you sure have a flair for the dramatic! [T:22:00]

Reed: Are you certain we can't negotiate?
Tucker: The Captain came back from his last negotiation with a face full of bruises. [T:29:17]

Reed: It's a console, Ensign, it won't bite.
Sato: No, it'll just scramble your molecules. [T:33:57]

Reed: Coordinates set?
Sato: Aye, Sir.
Reed: Then energize... before we change our minds! [T:34:13]
