Nata nel 2234. Ha lasciato la carriera di bio-ricercatrice, per potersi imbarcare sull'Enterprise. È stata fidanzata di un suo professore, il dottor Roger Korby. Durante una missione quinquennale dell'Enterprise è l'assistente del dottor McCoy. Sull'Enterprise ristrutturata al comando del Capitano Decker e poi dell'ammiraglio Kirk, svolge il ruolo di Ufficiale Medico, ed è in questa circostanza che si trova ad affrontare la crisi di V'ger. In seguito prosegue la sua carriera nella Sezione Medica del Comando della Flotta Stellare sulla Terra.
